Our second edition in our new format - I have sorted into categories too - so you can easily just see all the sketches or techniques etc as they accumulate:)
I am sure I am not alone when I feel like the days are whizzing past ?- The girls have settled into Grade One perfectly and have managed to learn their timetable of extra curricular activities - Now if I only I could manage to do something about the after school highway traffic and the inevitable 3.15 pm thunderstorm that seems to hamper the after school pick up - then our school days would be very happy! Much to share with you this month- enjoy the read.
can't live without ...Hmmmmm, well apart from the hubby and kids, coffee actually. I know I drink FAR too much of, (probably 10-15 cups a day) not something I am overly proud off, and I promise to cut down...fingers crossed
coffee or tea... ...COFFEE!!! and just regular Nescafe instant
perfume... I have been wearing Georgio berverly hills since I was 15, when my Dad brought home my first bottle from overseas. I love the fact now that I have worn it soooo long that my kids associate the sent with me
lipgloss or lipstick... Wish I could say lipgloss, cos I love the look, but I tend to eat it off too quick, so I am a stayfast lipstick kinda girl
last meal on earth ... Cheese, and small goods...bit of an antipasto fan
on your music play list ...Oh anything really, from ABBA to Pearl Jam. I like a bit of lyrical rock, nothing too heavy, but not into pop or any of that dance music, just not my go
next movie you want to see... I don't get to the movies much, love them though. I know now that I will have to wait til DVD but I would like to see that 'Australia' film, just to say I have seen it I think
must read blog...Hmmmmm, I am terribly deslexic so blog reading can sometimes be a bit of an effort, but I love the 'Post secrets' blog...gets a juicy over there....lol, and I read The Tarisota one (offcourse...lol), and Jill's and Ngaire's. I am a bit of a blog floated really, just keep clicking around and seeing what everyone is up too....:)
favourite quote... 'Love is not staring into each others eyes, but standing together looking in the same direction', I can't remember where I heard it, but it has always stuck with me
what do you see as the next trend in scrapbooking... Everything old seems to be new again, lots of old techniques such as tearing and stamping are coming back into fashion (in my humble little opinion), and there seems to be a merge away from the ultra expensive 'pre-done' embellishments, towards the handmade, altered versions. I also think the growing popularity of Mixed Media art is becoming a strong influence on pages
someone you would love to scrap with ... Ooohhhh tough one, perhaps Nic Howard, or even Leanne Ryan, and Sue Johannes, I would love to see how those ladies work. I guess it wouldn't be so much of scrapping with them, but scrap observing....lol
favourite colour combo... I love love love Colour, brights and bolds, but funnily enough I think my one true fav would be 'black, white, and red'
never fail technique...Inking, not much can't be made better with a bit of ink
favorite item from the Tarisota Collection this month...Ohhh another toughie, perhaps the beautiful big prima flowers, oh but I loved the glass beads, and that gorgeous felt gate, and the bling flourishes...oh no, can't I say I loved it all!!!
and finally - an extra Layout Cass whipped up post gallery!
Sad news in Tari land as we bid goodbye to our dear Digi -Goddess Jo Kneller.
Jo is taking a break from her designing work as she concentrates on her return to school with preppies - or in NZ speak - New entrants. As the mother of two Grade Ones I so appreciate all the hard work that goes on in those rooms so as sad as I am, I totally support Jo as she moves into a new phase in her life.
Did you see these works of art ?
Just amazing !
Our tutorials will be back next month and never fear you will still
see some of Jo's fabulous work in the not too distant future - we have
a few special projects planned :)
Our digi downloads will continue - I have something special planned for March - stay tuned.
This month Rachel shares her yummy Russian Fudge recipe with us all. Super simple but so good - and perfect as a gift when you jazz it up as she has using some packaging from her collection.
Microwave Russian Fudge
100g butter 1 cup sugar ¼ cup golden syrup 400g can condensed milk 1 tsp vanilla essence
Mix the first four ingredients in a microwave proof bowl. Microwave on high power (100%) for 9 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes. The mixture will bubble vigorously. Drop a little in a cup of cold water and it should form a soft ball rather than flattening. Add vanilla essence to mixture and beat with electric beater for 5 minutes. Pour onto a buttered metal surface (small square tin) and left stand until cold. Cut into squares.
Not one but two tutorials for you!
One of Nic's New Year's resolutions is to find enough to time to read and occasionally enjoy a DVD or two with her family. She started writing the names of good books on various scraps of paper as they were recommended but quickly realised she needed a dedicated notebook to keep her lists straight.
This is a regular notebook but with a little embellishing from this months Tarisota collection, it has turned into something special. Nic used the Kraft coloured packaging from some of the Prima Packets as embellishment for her front cover, as well as the dividers dedicated to "Books I've read, Books to read, and DVDs".
Perhaps you have a diary or notebook sitting around just waiting for a little embellishing - follow Nic's quick steps below to see how.
Step 1:
Cut a piece of Prima transparency the same size as the front of your notebook/diary.
Sew strips of fabric and ribbon down the left side.
Step 2:
Add the Prima Felt Gate
Step 3:
Add flower and other embellishments, and adhere to the front of your notebook/diary.
NOTE: If you want the transparency colours to show well, place a piece of white cardstock behind before adhering to your book.
and there you have it - a perfect spot to keep your list of to read and to watch!
Totally inspired by Nic's must read must watch notebook we have decided to share with you this month whats on our to watch and read lists. Hope you find something from here to add to yours!

Jill
My fave book is one from my childhood, "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. Must have for every book collection. I love it, I love it, I love it.
Movie....I would say "The Piano".... You know, I was a publicist for Village Roadshow for many years and, it takes alot for me to sit through a movie now....think I got movied out.

The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" by Jean-Domonique Bauby This was recommended to me by a close friend. It was written by a man that was totally physically paralyzed - he 'dictated' the words to a writer by blinking his eyelid at the right time as she recited the alphabet. It was a number one bestseller across Europe and has been made into a movie. Sounds intriguing, huh?!
DVD - Good old Mama Mia. Abby rang me from the beach saying she had watched it with her grandparents and "It was AMAZING, Mum! I sang all the way through!" I look forward to sharing it with her again.
Tamar
Books - I love to read and get drawn to pretty covers . I have just finished The Good Mayor but also on my hit list are
DVD -would have to be doubt I love Meryl Streep
Gigi
Man on a Wire it's a documentary when Philippe Petit illegally strung a tightrope wire between the world trade centers & walked across...

Mel
I missed out on seeing Mamma Mia! at the movies when it was first
released, so this month I'm going to treat myself and buy a copy to
keep and watch.
I'm more of a magazine girl, I just never seem to find enough hours in the day to sit down and get all the way through a book. What I do want to make time for this month is to read the latest issue of Real Living magazine from cover to cover.

Rachel
Australia - I really want to see this!
and here is a little blurb on the book In these times of recession, not many people can afford a $37,000 diamond necklace. But what if you didn’t buy it just for yourself? What if you and 12 friends bought it, and shared both the necklace and your stories of what the necklace brought you? In this remarkable true story, the remarkable women who did just that share their lives, and what the necklace meant, and continues to mean, to them and their community.
I hope you have loved our gallery as much as we have loved creating it for you. This month we take a closer look at the inking and dyeing that the designers have used to change the look of some of the goodies in their collections.
Jill- Alcohol Inks
Rachel - Dye (red/pink) on the prima leaves and Glimmer mist (moonlight) on the white cardstock
Jo LuminArte shimmering mist in Key Lime and Sky Blue, and a little tsukineko walnut ink spray in Lilac on the bras. Distress inks in shabby shutters and broken china on the hangers.
Tamar - Junkitz Surf Acrylic paint as the base ( coming to a collection near you soon wink ;) Tim Holtz Crackle paint and then swiped with distress Ink
Mel- versacolor white ink first and then went over the top with a soft shade of pink.
Ngai - Glitz Spray Dye and water colour paints
I love the diversity a collection of paints inks and dyes bring to the collections!
As of the February collection - we will no longer be offering a variety of different coloured cardstock with each collection - Instead we will have 2 x kraft 2 x black 2 x white as a neutral base for your projects.
On occasion when it suits, the collection we will also add in red and cream :)
You can also add extra cardstock to your order - under limited editions. 5 of each style for $9- shipping is free with your normal subscription. This will be an ongoing promotion.

Hello! Thanks for making the trek over here -and welcome to our new look Tarisota Talk.
While this part of Tarisota undoubtedly gives me much pleasure it also brings extra work and stress getting it right - so there has been a gap in Talks for some time :( - A day wouldn't go past without someone asking me when the next issue was due. I have been struggling to find a new way of working through the content that we like to share but without adding to the workload - after much discussion we think this is the way to go- it is easily archived we can add all sorts of links and files for you and I can share the production with the other Designers. Speaking of -a big thank you to Jo who has worked with me to get the look I wanted .
So there we have it our new look Talk.
Enjoy!
P.S Don't forget to leave a comment at the end - we have a lovely little give away for you-designed especially by Rachel- you are so going to want this - I want it!
