I'm sharing with you my new obsession these little notebooks. I have four on the go at the moment - One tucked into my handbag, another for notes about my postcrossing lists, another for ideas for my blog, and my last one is a list of project ideas for our style blog :)
The girls have been hassling me to make some for them I really must.
Supplies
- One sheet of 12 x 12 cardstock per book trimmed back to 8 x 12 inches
- A4 Size grid paper ( or blank paper ) ( or lined paper ) or a mix :)
- Embroidery thread and needle
- Wide Packing Tape
- Fabric
Tools
- Bone folder
- Corner Rounder
- Awl
- Craft glue
Fold the cover in half
and round your corners
I use grid paper for my inserts - this
book was from the newsagent for under $2
Take some pages from the middle - and
then trim the edge off so that your width is 19cm
Fold in half width ways and round the
corners
Poke some holes in the fold - top and
bottom two sets do the same in the cover and run some thread though. To
put your book together.
These next steps are not my invention.I first saw the idea here and have since seen it popping up in all manner of places. I do mine a little differently but it works well for these books and uses your favourite fabrics ;)
Run a piece of packing tape down the
wrong side of your favourite fabric. Make sure it is at least 8 inches
long a little longer is better. Use your bone score to make sure it
adheres properly.
Trim the fabric back to the tape
Add some craft glue to the tape side
it kind of polls togaed but thats ok work fast moving it around.
Adhere to the spine of your book. I use little clamps to keep it together while the glue dries - just for a few minutes.
Here is a little download for you - labels to print straight onto sticky paper. It's a PDF file so you will need a free reader if you don't already have one. Simply open and print.
and there you have it
