Blythe Love on Etsy

 You may have noticed some chatter on my twitter stream about Blythe - the ever trendy dolls with beautiful big eyes. Mnay of my twitter friends have fallen victim I mean under their spell and their numbers are increasing daily it seems.

I have an incredibly special doll I  Faith that all my lovely lovely friends banded together to surprise me with when I was first diagnosed. I am yet to have a proper photo shoot with her but she sits beside me patiently waiting - along with Poppy my very first Dolly.

In the meantime I have been checking etsy for some pretty new clothes for my girls. I'm yet to make a decision - HOPELESS I am I love everything but I thought I would share some of the finds I have made.

Blythe Happenings

Today I received a gorgeous new dress in the mail from Janelle's etsy store - The Stitched Bluebird- Totally love it - especially with her green eyes :)

but that is where the excitement ended for our Blythe girls today.

We are still very sad as yesterday we started the process of eye surgery - If you've never seen this done you may like to look away it does involve hot glue guns. Tals had chosen to replace her  pink and orange eyes as had Sof.

I thought I had it all under control.

 I had to paint the iris on first

So we had 6 sets of eyes to change.

I was able to remove the current chips

 Then put  the new ones in

That is where it all went haywire. Obviously - as this dolly clearly doesn't have a head anymore.
I didn’t put the chips in properly and they fell out inside of three of the girls heads. It required me taking the heads apart. For two girls all was fine but for poor Eliza Jane her scalp came off too and no matter what we do we can’t get her back together. Her whole head came apart off her body but that was too distressing to take a photo of so this is her as good as we can get her. :( :( :(

We had our “I can fix anything friend" come over this morning early before work especially to no avail. She is getting packed up and we are sending her to visit with Aunty Jo who does the most beautiful alterations to Blythes.  The plan is for her to fix her and maybe make a few little alterations while she is over there .  Tals is still terribly upset and I'm so cross with myself.

The only bright spot in the whole situation was when I said to my girls you know they will all have headaches for a little while after their heads have been taken apart. They rolled their eyes at each other and patted  me and said Mumma you do know they aren't real don’t you? We all had a giggle and got the panadol out just in case. We will try to take some photos tomorrow of our other girls with their new pretty eyes and hope for a speedy return of Eliza Jane.

Blythe Love

Thank you for all your lovely comments and emails about my refurbished furniture for our Blythe. I thought I'd do a little post and add some more details in here about some stuff I love to do with Blythe.

Firstly a gorgeous new etsy store just opened tonight buy the lovely Janelle -  Her work is exquisite and I believe she will take custom orders depending on her work load.  I have one in myself at the moment:)

 The rement sets we have are the  Merry Strawberry Set

 

and the hello kitty stationary set

I buy rement from ebay and for both I have bought the whole set - you an buy each thing individually for just a few dollars but I find with shipping its better value to buy the whole set.  Prices vary greatly on ebay so its well worth looking carefully before committing.

The other thing we do is change eye colours. Mostly the girls come with green blue orange and pink and for me the orange and pink are a bit out there - so we are changing those colours. I won't recommend an eye chip place as the last place i bought from cost more in shipping than for the eyechips and the place I bought from previously is no longer available - but ebay is where I usually get them from. Jill  GG is our preferred eye doctor :)

Pay It Forward

So if you follow me on twitter you'll know I have ben twittering about something exciting happening and how lucky I am LOL

Sorry to be so vague but I now have the proof so I can share

Yesterday in the morning Mel twittered/blogged about a new pattern out from Simplicity for Blythe. I think I have already mentioned that  we are adding to our family this Christmas two new girls to our family or maybe three if I am very good ( the third one will be for me ! ) 

So as soon as I saw the pattern I thought I so need that then my Ma can make me a heap of blythe clothes:)

So I go on and check its available to ship on-line  through the process and shipping is $24.15 US  - what the?

The pattern is only $9.55. I text Mel far out I can't pay that in shipping for a pattern. Neither can she is her reply she'd already checked. So she is sad too  She comes back again and says Janelle is saying the same thing. We are all sad LOL

So for some reason I  think for goodness sakes that can't be right so I regoogle and find  this site see the shipping is only $8 something and any additional patterns only $1.45 - and the patterns are on special for $8.99 ! So a mad scramble of texts and  twitter and I  bite the bullet and buy three - I couldn't get in touch with Janelle and we were running late for the girls haircuts and had to be out the door so I just took a chance that she wanted it.

Managed to email her from my phone. She was so happy as she had just been sitting there trying to think of a way to justify the $24 postage.

 and right then and there decided that she would make me one of her Iphone ruffled pouches to say thank you

 seriously?? Get out do you know how much I wanted one of those?  When I saw her book some out out its the first thing I thought I'd give a go 

but you know what time? and umm skill? lol lacking in both areas.

then just this week Janelle has been doing this fabulous giveaway on her blog and I had to get in on the  iphone one cause let me just put it out there I WANTED ONE. Like really wanted one.

So the good news is

and the even better news is I have my very iphone ruffle pouch sewn personally by Janelle in the mail on its way to me today.

Sigh... I can't fricking wait till it gets here.

NOW if this had have been me on the other end of the email by that  stage I would have said stuff your iphone punch and turned off th e computer and made something for someone else LOL But not Janelle.

I checked my emails over and over - I don'thave my emails on automatic download as I get too distracted when Im working so I just check them randomly except this morning - when I was like is it here yet? is it here yet?

and then all of a sudden it was...

Simply Bubble Bloom

Although my poor Poppy is much neglected these days we are still avid  Blythe fans in our house.In fact the girls are up for a Blythe this Christmas/Birthday so I have been back in researching the whos who in dolly land. They don't know it. They are still under the not till you are 12 party line that  Richard and I have been feeding them.

I have received a number of emails and questions over time about where to get Blythe from.  This new lovely one Simply Bubble Bloom is up for lottery starting today.

I think she's awfully sweet but she's not going to be joining our family. The colour is a bit too orange for us :)

Poppy Blythe Questions

I have received a number of emails about Poppy and where to get Blythe dolls from so I thought I would put a quick explanation here for easy reference - and also let me start with the over rider that I am NO expert this is just what I have found in my  research so I hope it saves some of you some time.

I was really lucky in that a friend was in Japan and bought Poppy for me  -from Kiddyland in Harajuku - but if you happen to be in Japan or have a friend going apparently they are available in a number of good toy stores

Other than that ebay is the way to go  - just put in a search blythe

The release dates for dolls and the way each release has limited numbers seems like there are only certain times when they are available in any online stores. Much more detail about the release of each doll is available here

It seems to be cheaper to buy from  overseas than in Aus even with shipping costs

Also check this is blythe  - there is a forum there with heaps of info - even a buying and selling section

There are many OOAK dolls out there - One of a Kind dolls - who have been customised - they are usually much more expensive than the NRFB - never removed from the box - dolls. Even more expensive again are the vintage 1972 dolls.

Also released each month and quickly become collectors items they are basically minature sets 1:6 scale.  Good places to purchase are ebay and etsy - Just  search re ment - or re-ment or rement
