Hello everyone! Gigi Kennedy here, and I'm so happy to be guest blogging on Tamar's blog today! I know Tamar & her family love Halloween so I'm so happy to pop in to share a special Halloween candy treat with all of you that you can make all year round - it's also a lovely treat for birthday parties, school fetes, Christmas and weekend fun. So, even though we've just celebrated Halloween - you can cook this anytime - so yummy!!
Here in New York, we LOVE Halloweeen. It is HUGE! There's parades (a super big one on Halloween night in Greenwich Village), costume parites, trick or treating, spooky hay rides around pumpkin patches and apple orchards. It's so much fun!
and yikes! it's right around the corner!!! Last year (& last minute as usual...lol) I made my girls cupcake costumes and they were a huge hit!
Now, I don't know about you....but for inspiration to strike for me, it's gotta come along with chocolate :) So we made some delicious Halloween Candy Bark to munch on. SOOOOOOO good! One of the great things about this recipe is it makes a good lot, so there is plenty left over to share with our friends & neighbors. Also, it whips up so quickly it has been my go-to recipe to bring along to parties and spooky gatherings. I hope you & your ghosts and goblins enjoy it too!!
Halloween Candy Bark
14 whole Oreos, broken up.
1 1/2 cup pretzels, broken into pieces.
1 lb. white chocolate
brown, green and orange colored sprinkles
Cover a large cookie sheet with wax paper. Spread broken cookes and pretzels onto the waxed paper. Place white chocolate in a container and microwave for 1 1/2 minutes. Stir and then microwave for another 30 seconds until melted and smooth. FYI - White chocolate melts faster and burns easier than chocolate.
Drizzle the melted chocolate over the cookie mixture, spreading with spatula if needed to coat evenly. Sprinkle colored sprinkles over the chocolate while it is still wet. Do not let it harden. Place cookie tray into refrigerator until set and firm. Remove and gently break bark into small pieces.
Pack in cellophane bags, tie with pretty ribbon & share!
xoxo
