I love to shop- Seriously I do - I always have. I think you either love it or hate it and there is not much in between.
Before the girls were born I used to dream of our shopping we'd be able to do - how much fun it would be.
Can I just tell you it's not.
I go with such high hopes and it just never is.
Not because they don't like shopping - they do! They love it as much as me - BUT one is sooo fussy and the other is sooo laid back it's a nightmare.
One would buy every single thing and wants to try on every single thing - the other refuses to even consider anything unless its black - LONG - black and did I mention black ?
Try shopping for white communion dresses. We have been out for a number of weekends giving it a good try- and had found nothing. SO yesterday finally in Brisbane we found something to suit both - One is long satin diamontes flowers princess - the other is tea length, vintage cream lace with long sleeves and a black ribbon. Could not be more different if we tried. I explained to Miss Vintage did she realise that the other girls would be wearing something similar to her sister.
her reply?
I'm not the other girls - this is appropriate. It's nearly white. I like it.
Awesome.
I truly LOVE that she knows her own mind but hoping like heck when she sees the sea of white satin and taffeta that she still feels the same way. Her dress is so lovely and totally her but so not like anything anyone else will wear. Crossing everything that it goes ok. Other kids can be so brutal and honestly so can some of the other Mums.
MOVING on to more shopping - I have seriously avoided buying either of them any clothes since Chinese New Year ( you can read that story back here ) but when Richard landed on Friday night his first words were we are sponsors for Ryan's ( our Godson ) communion and confirmation - Its on the week before the girls. I'm ashamed to say I didn't think oh how wonderful all I could think was oh no I'm going to have to get the girls something to wear.
SO you guessed it - Today was go shopping again - Two days in one weekend just too much. My defenses were right down. Richard was at golf so he couldn't even fortify me with coffee lol.
Miss I'll wear anything but can never decide within 5 minutes had loaded me up with 15 choices while Miss I only wear black was doing the happy dance that she could in actual fact wear black so she gave me the choice of one black dress and one black cardigan.
In the change rooms - is 15 outfits loved everything so we had a quick chat about how much she could spend and left her calculating which outfits had to go back (thank you Myers for the 30% off sale! ) Miss Black dress didn't like her one choice. ( neither did I ) so sat moping at the injustice in the world that there was only one dress to choose from. As we made our way to the checkout the lovely lady was chatting and saying how much she loved Miss Pink's dress and she wanted one herself -I asked did it come in black ? she said well yes it does but in the Miss Shop - go try up there.
So off we went.
OH MY GOODNESS. Can I just say my life with Miss Black changed in an instant. A whole new wardrobe opened up in front of her.
She found 5 dresses that she loved within 5 minutes and some WEREN'T EVEN BLACK. There is a brand called Princess Highway and they are seriously my new best friend. The clothes are designed for teenagers but with her height and size she can get away with a 6 or 8 and they are seriously cute - all vintage and florals and lace and plenty of black.
She decided on a navy dress and bless that shop assistant who told her she should wear jewel stockings with it - maybe maroon or purple to which she replied oh great idea. She will not give in to my request to wear mary janes though and is insisting on boots or some quilted sneakers she has asked for every time we walk past pumpkin patch. I did the typical we will see response. Here are our purchases.
not the shoes they are just suggestions at this stage but the two dresses hang happily in our wardrobes tonight ready for the event and Miss Black is promising to do all her chores and extra because I was kind and let her get a big girl dress not a baby girl dress.
Where did my baby girl go??
In case you have a Miss Black in your house these are the other ones she was enamoured with.
The joys of shopping with girls- apparently it gets harder?
