I often accuse my husband of being a poor estimator of time -but seriously I have totally misjudged how long my bloggy makeover was going to take me. I thought I'd be done by 2pm at a stretch ...sigh

And you know it's not like I just woke up and thought hmm might make over my blog. I have sketches and lists and typed up pages of cheat sheets for code and bookmarked bits and bobs so I knew what I was doing - sort of LOL. It's now10.30pm and I am still a long long way from finished.

On a happier note I'm loving the way it's coming together but I'm not enjoying the fiddliness ( is that a word?) of  CSS and HTML -If I never see another set of brackets again it will be too soon.

AND I'm yet to tackle the whole bloggy button thing which drives me crazy or fixing up my categories on 2000+ posts.

Sadly I'm going to have to put it to one side and leave it in this state of disrepair while I work on some other bits tomorrow.

New School

A bitter sweet week in our house as my girls headed off to a new school for Term Two. This culminates in months of toing and froing - I never find it easy to make the really big changes. It was a hard decision but we feel we were guided and some amazing things fell into place to make this happen. We know that their new school will provide them with some wonderful experiences and I'm excited about that for them.

Here is Tals  ready to head off early on Wednesday morning

Two days in and already they are waving Richard off asking him not to get out of the car.  Tals rated her first day as a 9/10 - She said everything was awesome - though she did lose her hat which didn't make me super happy for Day One  - thankfully it has reappeared. Tals has been made tuckhsop monitor -I loved being tuckshop monitor when I was at school.

Sofia rated hers a 7.2/10 - because people kept looking at her because she was new and she is sitting on the end of a row and she really wants to sit in the middle with a friend either side - little miss social that she is. I'm guessing one less friend to talk to is a GREAT idea LOL. Her class is reading a Roald Dahl book  -one of her favourite authors.

They are in different classes and as of today have already aced a maths test each and a spelling test - they have a heap of homework which makes them both very happy and it's significantly more challenging as is the reading program they have started. I feel like I can breath again.

 

Feeling blessed to have such adaptable little girls  and for the opportunities they have been provided.

Real Living - it is soooo my style.  But I am so slow to read magazines.  The latest one arrived today and I haven't even finished last months'!

Last book you read and LOVED

I have two favourites at the moment.  Jasper Jones by Aussie Craig Silvey, and Room by Emma Donoghue. As I type this I made the connection that they both have a young boy as the main character, but they're completely different stories.  I loved them both.

Movie's, magazines and books.

• Movie's are most always chosenby my partner I have no idea of what is coming up, or new or even what is on at the movies now!
• I'm not much of a magazine reader either I'm afraid. I will very occasionally buy a 'real living' mag. I miss Notebook.
• Before my children were born I had a voracious reading appetite and would get most enjoyment from hearty historical fiction from the likes of Bryce Courtenay and Ken Follett.
• The last book I read and loved would have been a cooking or craft book.

My family  

Living at home with my hubby Ian and I are.....my 20 yo
son Mitch as well as his girlfriend Meg during the Uni holidays....and my 17 yo
daughter Briony. My eldest son Brent and his partner Alex.....with their two girls AnnaBella
(2.5yo) and Brooke (1yo) live close nearby..walking distance in fact...which is very nice.

golly..this is hard....I think I'm always behind the 8-ball when
it comes to trends.....I tend to scrap with what I like...regardless if its old...new...in fashion...or outdated.
One trend I've loved is upcycling... re-using...and repurposing....Id like to think that perhaps that trend will grown.

Something I've always wanted to do 

Mixed media art ! .....there are so many
beautiful inspirations out there at the moment...it would be fun to have a
play.

Movie

Well I have to admit....I'm NOT a movie person....I rarely watch them.... so I consulted with my movie buff friend (Yvette) ...and she / we decided that perhaps Id love 'Going the distance ' seeing as I like feel good girly type movies. I'm so glad I was prompted to consult my movie buff friend....because now when I get a chance....I'm going to see that movie (she says as she nods her head and stamps her foot)!!!

Favourite magazine

That's easy....I'm hooked on 'real living' magazine....I
never miss a copy now days. I have slowly been what I call 'Mardi-fying' my home...and Real Living magazine has been a real source of inspiration for me....I love that its written with the budget conscious in mind...lots of DIY and cool tricky little ideas.

Favourite book 

'The swim club' by Anne de Lisle  - this was such a feel
good book.....I was so sad to turn the last page....I wanted it to keep on
going.....and the memories stayed with me for months. I'd actually really
like to re-read it....something I rarely do.

It gives me great pleasure to announce some gorgeous guest designers that have been quietly behind scenes creating up a storm:)

 
They join our existing team and have been feverishly working our our Lost Wonderland collection and our yet to be revealed latest edition Paris Glamour.

I am putting the final touches on a beautiful new gallery of work and a series of new products too. You can catch a glimpse at one  over here at Inkurable Stampers. Ruby and Robyn have been working with our new release ATC collections and I can't wait to share their creations. This morning I'll introduce three of our ladies and bring you the next installment later this afternoon.

That is a hard one.  I am seeing a lot of handmade embellishments, especially flowers & tags.  Banners are huge, especially with the American ladies and I have seen felt & fabric creeping into layouts and cards more frequently lately.

Last day of Holidays - Random thoughts

Today is my last day of holidays. My "be grateful for the days I have" attitude has seen me well over this break and I'm holding on to my last day pretty tight.

The girls have had a lovely holiday- I wanted that for them - tomorrow they start at a new school and until yesterday the idea was just exciting now they are getting nervous.

Our days have been filled with crafty, baking, movie watching, shopping and organising - all of our favourite things to do. That's one of the things I love about our Hip Hip Hooray series that provide a structure to our crafting. It would be easy to not do stuff yet we get so much enjoyment from it when we do.

Mostly I am the queen of multi-tasking but I have tried to give that away and be focused on one thing at a time. I have had to scale down my to do list. I think I have accomplished less but enjoyed more.

Richard working from home has been challenging but fortunately he has had the Easter days off so I have had some of my own downtime. We will need to make different arrangements for the next holidays.

The girls new school is further away and requires them to be on the bus by 7.40 - so that's an earlier to bed for them and an earlier to rise.

I have started a new training program to increase my running distance to 10 km.  Day One I ran 5 Km and Day Two I ran 5.6 km. My training is first up in the morning so I think I'll have to start going to bed earlier too.

I have been catching up on Big Love -  I soooo love that show - I have nearly finished Season Four  I'm finding Bill a bit much at the moment.

Today we are heading to Robina I am in search of a new red cardigan and to meet friends for coffee. The girls and Richard will go to see Rio.

Now I am off to enjoy my last day :)

Orla Keily I had heard the name and then her products and clothes keep popping up on pinterest. While I don't pin fashion I really would love to but I don't need any more obsessions in my life I couldn't help but be drawn into take a closer look.

Seriously? How gorgeous is her stuff? this little inspiration board I have put together from her latest collections and I would totally wear each of these pieces - Except that I'd need about 6 inches added to the hemlines - cute as short but umm I don't do short. Realistically I don't really need to be concerned with hemlines given that some of these pieces start at around the  $500 mark - though that stripe cross over dress is ONLY $195 sigh :)

Is there even a stockist in Aus ? I'm not so sure.

And the official website is just the tip of her products - when you google images gorgeous images of home decor, furnishings, crockery, stationary and the list goes on appear.

Apparently her products are also available in Target? But I'm guessing not ours??

Maybe it's better that they aren't?
