I rarely mention stuff about work here - It's kind of a different world for me and I like to keep the two worlds different but every now and then stuff impacts and I wanted to share.
I am part of a team working towards a new behaviour process within our school called School Wide Postive Behaviour System - It works on using your data to see where you need support and then explicitly teaching students the behaviours you want to see. It also works on the idea that you need to give 4 positive statements to out do one negative statement.

Monday and Tuesday I spent in Brissie at the most powerful, confronting inservice I have ever been to- around Poverty and the impact it has on education and how as educators there are strategies to combat the effects poverty has on learning. Poverty is not about a lack of financial means there are 9 factors in the model. I'm just doing some more work on it now which is why it's back in my head.
Part of the inservice involved a disection of this amazing film and story of Temple Grandin we only got to see little bits and I'm desperate to see the whole thing. You can read here story here
