I'm starting a new blog feature -sharing some of my favourite pins and colours.I have been pinning over at pinterest for some time now. It's definately my favourite place to go for inspiration. I love the pretty pictures and I love that I can gather and keep the ideas and pictures that are inspiring to me.
These gorgeous flowers and such a pretty crochet rug. The colours scream early autumn I think.

Chess seems to be making a resurgence in poularity. One of our librarians is running a chess club at school during the lunch hour and we have 17 boards - each day its a fight to see who can get to chess club the fastest and students are being turned away.
At the girls school they offer chess before school one day a week -though its $75 a term to join- eeeeek (no lessons just games ) . Tals has been desperate to learn to play and wants to join at school but we can't get her there early enough nor can I justify the dollars.
We had borrowed a couple of different books from the library and Richard had sat down with her numerous times but she still wasn't really getting it.
I'll be honest I have no idea how to play.
Last night we thought about searching for an app and we have found the best one!
Its called Dinasaur Chess .
You start out as a wee dinosaur - on the left hand side of the screen shot - and it steps you through a series fo activities to learn about each of the pieces
Then you work thorugh mini games to ensure you are moving correctly.
After that here are mini versions of games against a series of dinosaurs stepping you right up to a full game
Its so fabulous - beautifully interactive -with support the whole way through. Tals has already worked her way through and is challenging dinosaurs to mini games.
I love the look of it I think Im going to give it a go too so I can learn how to play.
HIGHLY recommend it . It"s not a free one but totally worth the $3.99. ( We paid $3.99 through itunes its $4.99 in the app store? Not quite following the whole app store versus itunes )

Friends coming for dinner tonight so I had Sof and Tals helping make dinner
For dessert I had decided on a caramel and macadamia nut pie. I didn't have a recipe in mind when I went grocery shopping but I knew I needed a bisucit base - I bought one a packet one.
So while getting out the ingredients -
Sof: Whats this ? - pointing to the packet.
Me: It's biscuit base I say
Sof: Why are we using a packet mix ?
Me : Umm (feeling guilty) - cause its easier ?
Sof: Oh Mumma you know its just crushed biscuits in there we should be making our own.
SIGH
and just as bad as my daughter's disdain I'm sure a biscuit base is more expensive than a packet of butternut biscuits.

I love this quote.
It's been my mantra lately.
We have had so much going on with some family issues and most recently some stuff for our girls and their school. I've had to let go of my to do lists and just gone with what's been needed around here.
That's been really challenging for me and honestly some days I haven't liked it very much at all.
Though its part of what you sign on for when you join the ranks of motherhood.
We had some amazing totally unexpected news this week - like so good your heart stops beating and then all of sudden you realise you are breathing again and you didn't know that you hadn't been for a long time.
Eventually I'll look back on these days and won't be able to remember why was I so worried. I should have just let go allow things to happen in their own pace, but I couldn't. I am sure there was a lesson to be learnt there and yet again I haven't learnt it.
Our next two months hold much change but for the good- I am hoping to start adding back to my to do list over the next few weeks and you will see a restart to Tari and the many other things I have just had to put on pause. Here is to pressing play again soon.
