I have been avoiding mentioning this on my blog simply because I can't find the words. For the last 8 days its the first thing I do each morning - check to see what the update has been overnight.
I lived in Shimane-ken for just under a year as a 15 yr old - on exchange . I have studied Japanese since I was 12 - and taught it for 12 years. I have had two school trips to Japan.
Talia is working on a assignment at the moment celebrating street fashion in Japan.
This year in June, we had been planning family holiday to Tokyo to coincide with my long service leave.
It was to be our first overseas trip altogether.
So our family sits back and watches with the rest of the world as each day unfolds praying for an end to the unfathomable.
There is much talk in our news at the moment about compassion fatigue - it seems that every night as we turn on the news there is a new rolling coverage of an unspeakable disaster. Totally understandable - the fatique I mean. But at the end of the day this is our world and sadly this is what's happening so if you can here are a few places I have found round the web that are working towards supporting the people of Japan.

I'll get the girls onto this when they get home from camp. Im hoping our leadership students at school may take it on as a project too. It's a nice way to show support I think. If there is anything else you hear of I would love to know.
