In the wee hours of this morning I finished my curated album that I have been twittering about for the last few days. And more importantly I pressed order and sent it off to be printed. In reality I wanted it to be ready to give as gifts to grandparents and great grandparents for Christmas -but with only 3 sleeps to go clearly it won't be here on time. Can't be helped :)
I am so thrilled with how it came together - exactly what I imagined :)
When this template first came out I knew for sure I wanted to make one of these albums. I love both the kitschyness of Danielle and the simplicity of Liz but really not one of their styles fits with what I Iike totally so its kind of a match made in heaven. I wouldn't be abe to cope with page after page of kitschyness nor would I Iike straight simplicity - instead the combo makes something really different I think.
So this is my album- I pulled together my favourite photos of the girls taken through out the year . I have one double page dedicated to their birthday but the rest is just a collage of each of the girls.
Making the Pages
I'll be honest I think you need to know your way around your editing program to use these templates. II think if you were downloading a trial pse and trying to put it together you would find it difficult -
THOUGH really you just need to know is
- how to add photos
- mask them
- resize
- it helps if you can edit as in change to black and white or run an action over your photos too.
- Its nice to have a few extra digital images to add- like some of the cute pins and a dioily or two.
And thedeisgenrs have done a great job with making it as simple as possible with text layers explaining what to so
How Long ?
I didnt have a lot of my photos edited or ready so it took me longer than I would have liked - 6 hours all up to create the 20 pages.
Once I looked at it all again the next aday I realised three pf my pages were just ok I didnt love them so I spent another hour getting those pages redone.
Printing a Book
I have used Snapfish for my book. Though I know my local camera store does photo books too I have used Snapfish before for a friends wedding album so I am happy with the quality.I
When I did the wedding album I used the templates on snapfish and same deal I was editing photos as I went it took me almost as long as it did with these templates. I found using these ones allowed for far more creativity than using the snapfish ones. I would do this again for sure!
Uploading
Because I have a slow connection it took me quite a while to upload my images to snapfish and each time the ebook saved it took yonks! That kind of drove me crazy. So add in another 3 hrs for uploading and moving things around.o- and depending on how picky you are too LOL
Cost
I bought the 8 x 8 soft cover book which with 20 page is nornally $19.95 but there are a list of codes available one of which gives you 30% off all photo books until Dec 31st. You can see the list here - soI ordered 5 books and it came to $69.82- shipping was extra.
Templates - available from Oscraps I purchased the full album kit which gives you both styles kitschy and simple + an additional 10 templates and its currently 20% off :)
