Recipe Share - Green

This week I am sharing some recipes from Apples for Jam a lovely cookbook that I have as a giveaway along with my usual chatter.

 Todays chapter is green

Spinach and Ricotta Cannelloni

Hands down and absolute winner -  it uses fresh spinach  ricotta and crepes as the cannelloni instead of pasta - which really would be quite time consuming( makign crepes I mean )  but I cheated and bought my crepes  $4.94 at coles

 

and you make your own tomato base and also white sauce. Seriously so good. The girls were never going to be keen on this so I  made a separate dish with theirs in filled with ham and it was a winner

I made this mid week after a crazy day at work - didn't take very long but was a bit longer than my usual 15 minute throw together type meal well worth it and plenty for left overs:)

Being a girlie house ( Richard's totally outnumbered)  We are very drawn to pink here and while its not a colour that I wear I do love pretty pink things :)

This recipe has become a fast favourite for Richard and I the girls aren't fussed -which suits me fine  :)  Takes about 15 minutes to whip up and is super delicious the next day for lunches too.

Penne with prawns cream and tomato

We often swap the penne for fettuccine :)  You do need marsala for this recipe  but I just happen to have another fav recipe that uses marsala so its a regular thing that is in our pantry :)

I'm not a true lover of yellow I like it in small doses but  you can see a beautiful yellow treasury on etsy found  here 

Chicken Sauteed with Cheese and Milk

I have to admit I was bit skeptical when I tried this recipe I didn't think it was going to be anything special but the girls chose it so it was on the menu

 Totally surprised at how deliciously good the chicken is - I think its the sauteing in milk that makes it so yummy. Served with sweet potato mash and steamed carrots and peas - this meal is going into our regular rotation :)

An interesting spin off of one of my simple goals to drink the right amount of water each day is that I am now up to speed on  how much Iam supposed to be drinking! I have always thought 6 - 8 glasses  which I figured was about  a litre and a half but according to my little app on my phone I have to drink nearly 3 litres a day  and that increases if I do more than half an hour of exercise.!!!!! 

3 litres holy doly I so haven't been doing that!

I have found if I walk around with a litre bottle its easier to remember to drink it and the little number on my phone  reminding me how my more cups/ bottles I have to go eacjh day is really effective too. Yesterday I left my bottle at home and by the end of the school day I had only drunk two small cups.

When I get the right amount it makes a huge difference to how I feel :) Less tried and much less headachy Im also drinking less coffee I have noticed - that has to be good right?. Are you drinking enough water?

4 Simple Goals

I'm joining many others and participating in Elsie's 4 Simple Goals. The idea is to choose 4 simple things that will make your life richer and happier on a daily basis. You chose a reward and blog your goals as you go. I'm not sure about my reward yet and my blogging will probably be weekly ish as my goals are week oriented. I'll see how I go.

Here are mine

1. Make something new each week - this may be in the kitchen or in my craft room :)
2. Drink my required allotment of water  5 times a week -I am using an phone app to track this called Water Your Body
3. Say No less to my children. I fall into the habit of automatically saying no. Does it really matter if they want to get paint out 15 minutes before bed? No not really and they'll be happier for it. 
4. Photograph or document  the little things - like this morning I got up to find Tals had snuck into Sofs bed in the night and they were both snuggled up together sound asleep. when I asked her what she was doing in her sisters bed she replied I love my sissy.

Written by Jessica Jones a self confessed lover of orange. her posts are filled with crafty goodies and often links to freebies - lots of her inspiration is of course orange -but not all  - definitely  well worth a look

The recipe I have chosen to highlight from this chapter is one that has become a fast favourite - I have made it three times already its sausage and potato goulash - which really is just a  glorified version of bangers and mash in a yummy sauce and we add peas to make it a complete meal in one  :)

sausages red onion tin tomatoes potato paprika cinnamon bay leaf and parsley :- easy and yummy for kids too!
