I get a year out I am not sure how it happens but I spent this year thinking I was 38 and now it seems I'm only just 38 - no doubt I'll spend the year thinking I'm 39
A work day that started with a long walk by myself this morning at 4.45am :) kinda crazy but I felt like it and it was nice to have a start to the day just with my own thoughts
Tonight we ventured out and had sushi for dinner combined with coffee and this
We met friends very mellow but anything with that much melted chocolate has always got to be good.
Got spoilt with some beautiful meaningful gifts that Ill treasure.

This is our last lot of crafting for the weekend - Tals made hers yesterday but we only got Sofs finished today
Ngaire kindly sent the girls some Blythe badges in the mail - hey were so excited they love Blythe - poor Poppy has been quite neglected lately LOL
they have been ba=nagging at me to get them some handbags but i have looked na haven't found anything suitable - so I bought a metre of denim and have been meaning to make these for ages - the arrival of the badges and the crafting day gave me the shove to make it happen
so we just made two simple bag bases with the triangle bottoms - that was seriously the best sewing tip i ever learnt - the girls were able to do that themselves but i joined them and turned them through
Simple handles and they had a go at top stitching - its a bit wobbly according to Sof but I think they did just fine
machine sewed on with hand stitched buttons over the top - and our Blythe badges attached - a press stud in the middle - Tali's has hello kitty fabric for lining and a hello kitty button and iron on transfer
Sof had the strawberry theme happening with pom pom trim
They both think they are very stylish now :) Love this age !
I'm just going to make them some bigger ones with the left over denim.
Hope your weekend was wonderful

The girls have a ooky spooky birthday party to go to -so we decided on black and purple tutus and some stripey tights sparkly masks and sparkly tshirts or singlets depending on whats at target LOL
a quick google found a heap of tutorials all using the same basics of elastic 6 inch strips of tulle and some knot tying
here are two I have based the creating on here and here
a trip to spotlight
I could get black tulle - which is lovely and soft but only netting in the colours- the lavendar is quite course and was a bit tricky to work with - so If you are looking try to get tulle or the softer netting- tull is about $7.99 m while netting is about $3.50
for the girls I bought 5 m of black and 2.5 of each colour - its wayyyyy too much LOL
I could make another whole tutu with the leftovers
I cut the black into 6 inch strips and then split each length into 3 which was doubled over
I used about 20 6 inch strips in total for both
then with the colours I cut 8 and split them in half ( each colour )
slip the elastic around a chair and add the black
then try for twirlyness
add in the colour one strip every three
we had enough leftover to make for 2 x teddy as well LOL
will share the final look when we get our tshirts and stripey tights
PS the girls couldn't help much with this - I used the guillotine for cutting the tulle - they just handed me strips as I tied them on and were keen little models.

the girls and I are having a crafty day - its been planned for sometime so we are very excited -
Starting off with Lazy Day skirts and moving on to some more ambitious projects as the day goes along - I'm going to try to get the girls to do much of it themselves with me just guiding -
Wish me luck as the constant call of what can I do echos through the house- Its inevitable with two eager beavers and only one sewing machine!
No photos to share yet - Back later - or follow on twitter :) twitter.com/tarisota
