Last Tuesday Talia was honoured at a special parade to receive the much coveted JLJ award. The JLJ ( Just Like Jesus ) is awarded each term to just a handful of students for having qualities Just like Jesus. This term's quality was diligence. When Tals started at her school part way through the year last year she was quick to come home and say she had a goal of earning a JLJ award. She was heartbroken at the end of last year not to get one and told me this year she had two goals - One was to earn a JLJ and the second was to make the extension English class. There were more tears when Sofia started in Ext English this year and Talia didn't. ( There are only 15 in the class) We had big talks about how you have to just keep on trying.
So fast forward to this week just gone and Tals came home floating - not only had she received a JLJ for diligence - it was for all her work she had done in English!!! and we were notified that she was being moved across to the Extension English class. She was so so excited. She has been madly reading the class novel to catch up the three weeks she missed.
We are so proud of her.
She is a diligent little worker and stays at things until she gets them done. Sadly I couldnt be at the award ceremony due to my chemo date but I had a friend go on my behalf who took some pictures on her phone for me - slightly doddgy but documented none the less.-- Oh and Lisa if you are reading can you please be impressed by that attempt at a braid I did??? ( The girls both miss my sister's fabulous hair styling ability )
Never to sit back and rest Tals has set some new goals for the year - One is to sing a solo and the other is to make the tennis team. I love her enthusiasm and goal setting nature - however she has my coordination and athetic ability so I'm a bit dubious about the chances of tennis team but we will see.
