For the last 18 years we have had a Chinese New Year celebration - and probably for the last 12 its been an extravaganza. Many courses and an afternoon morphing into the evening of food and stories.
In our determination to keep some semblance of normal around here we celebrated this weekend just gone. A little late but it worked with our schedule.
We reused last years decorations and I bought a few more bits from the Chinese grocers
As time crept on through the week - the phone class started -are you sure you want to do this ? Nope I wasn't sure as I have admitted this was a tough week mentally - hence my absence.
18 adults 5 children. In celebration of the dragon - the water dragon no less - once in 60 years and the most auspicious sign in the chinese zodiac. But I needed to.
And I was wise. Richard rang around and had people bring things in to help.
We ordered food - I only made a few dishes - everyone else did the washing up.
Margie and I put out most of the course and kept it all rolling.
I took the girls shopping for new red dresses. They love this celebration so much.
We finished the night with sparklers and and glow bracelets.
All is good in the world when we celebrate. Life is for celebrating its easy to find an reason.
