Welcome - it's time to kick off our Day One of Hip Hip Hooray for winter. If you are reading for the first time Mel and I post a series of project related to a theme - right now its winter - YAY
You can expect some fun projects - craft cooking and kids activities over the week:)
Project One -Softies as Heat Packs
Today we are making softies that double as heat packs. I saw these softies over at the Ruffles and Stuff blog and loved them straight away. I also had stash of vintage sheets that have been calling my name for sometime. So this was the perfect excuse to whip these up. Though with winter on us the girls keep asking for heat packs - we keep some bags in the freezer all the time for knocks and bangs so we use those mostly- take one out heat it up in the microwave - That's when I thought ohhh softies as heat packs how cute - then the girls would have something to cuddle up to and take to bed.
Using the pattern here I cut out my softie and followed the instructions as is until the final steps -
Instead of stuffing I added rice and lavendar and I didn't slipstitch it closed I machine stitched it - Don't want rice falling out everywhere with my dodgy stitching!
Buttons and microwaves don't mix so I would normally use buttons - instead we have one fox without any eyes - the girls keep telling me she needs eyes - and she needs a sister!
PS She has already been heated twice an cuddled up to under blankie - hence her fluffy tummy :-) It just brushes off. She also needs name... I keep saying Florence but the girls think that's a silly name.
Thanks to Disney for her simple to follow pattern :)
So glad you visited - Please share the Hip Hip Hooray with your friends too and don't forget to pop over to Mel to see her fun project for today.
