January 2008

School Girls

We all survived - Up early and organised with about 10 minutes to spare so I was pretty pleased with that!

Tali's fingers were much better this morning and the text book dried out well enough!

Have to say didn't do a great job at getting them to hold still while I took some quick photos this morning..

School

Two very happy girls

But the telling tale was listening  to Sofia tell her Great grandparents about the day when they rang tonight to check on them - the  convo went on forever!

School4

so in no particular order school according to Sofia - aged 5 and 1 month 3 days..

  • My painting shirt is pink and Talis is red but I like pink and she likes red so thats okay
  • We met our cooking teacher we are going to cook -  we don't know what yet but shes getting all the ingredients and she even has aprons for us
  • There's two playgrounds and you  get to play with the Grade oners
  • It's better than daycare cause you take your own lunch ( yay ME! I did good with the lunch box!)
  • Mr E came to our classroom to say hello but I was too shy and I hid behind Mrs E and she made me say hello
  • We have hankies in our pockets and this weekend we are going to go buy some more maybe some with fairies on them
  • You go to the toilet with a friend but four of you can't go thats too many
  • There's a rule that you have to eat your sandwich and fruit first and then after that you can eat whatever you like
  • There is even a tuckshop  there's no tuckshop at daycare
  • You have a rest time but you don't have to sleep its okay if you do though cause I had a sleep
  • Our teacher read us books one was Clifford's first day and another was one on cd and the cd read the book
  • Talia was a leader with Francesca and next time I'm going to be a leader
  • Mrs E didn't get us muddled cause we had our Minnie name tags on it has our names on you know so she could read them
  • We are going again on Monday and then again the next  day and the next day we just keep on going
  • It was really good I really liked it.

:) So relieved...

Thanks for reading.

I want her to go and do more!

Inklination and a cool add on for this month too!

Check it out here

Enjoy

Bags are packed

Little people are well and truly asleep- Lunch is finished until morning when i make the sushi sandwiches - The raspberry bread turned out YUM not too sweet -( i had to try it with my cuppa! ) I used tin pears as there were NO fresh ones- next time Id use wholemeal flour and add some extra wheat germ for texture its good though!

Got this gadget from Office works tonight - I was a bit dubious ...

470ef398f298022000000000ac193d36

but it works sooo well - Really easy and worth its weight in gold - I also got the fabric tapes and have labeled everything - all irons on very quickly and easily- on special at office works $38

Two disasters Talia burnt her fingers on the iron - three of them I don't know how many times I said it was hot so Richards been out for burn cream -poor possum - she did get to stay up later though and watch me make the raspberry loaf I think she thought it was almost worth it  and Sofia has managed to drench her brand new maths text in juice - Its drying now and soon Ill have to decide whether its all okay or if all the pages are too stuck together and we have to buy another one....

other than that its all smooth here!

Working on finishing the site ready for changeover for late tomorow night

Here are the sneaks if you have been missing them...

Finished

and here is the project! I wanted a fabric bag  for my folders for work :-)

Bag

So from this site ...

This FREE pattern  which absolutely rocks - is easy to follow

Took me 1 and half hours from start to finish

I kinda varied it though - Doubled the size ) not the handles - and used calico as my lining instead of interfacing so it has three layers - and I wanted it reversible because I couldn't decide which pattern I liked the best so I didn't add a pocket  - Also added the pom pom trim :)

Bag2

Love a completed project .

One of those days today

with a list of niggling things to do all in different places - and I didn't find what I was looking for a number of times frustrating but not the end of the world.

One of my happy purchases today - at spotlight

Fabric_2

that bottom fabric is very cool - its three panels of different colours you can only see two in the picture and the other half of it has another three  - oh dear not sure that makes sense - anyhow very nice..

back later with the finished project --- hopefully.

Less than a week

to go until the girls start school

This week has been tricky cause I have needed to be back at work and we weren't keen for them to be in daycare for the interim time - and they couldn't start  vacation care with school as they hadn't started school.. So fortunately we have had a good friends daughter who has been available to take them off on many adventures..

Much more exciting adventures that what Mumma has been doing over the last few weeks that is for sure!

We have had a bit of a routine though and tried to do  a cooking thing a helping thing a puzzle thing a craft thing a Talia and Sofia time thing ( read here Mumma sits with a cuppa tea collapsed time ) and a book a day - Mostly we have done well..

One of the most fav activities was these craft animals from Spotlight... all pre cute pre punched all you have to do is thread the needle and and sew in and out - I had to do the buttons for the eyes but with just a bit of help the girls got these done..

Craft

This is a page out of my holiday album I'm working on :)

Chinese New Year

is fast approaching

I have been working on our invites..

This year is the year of the Rat ( or mouse )

and according to wikipedia - font of all knowledge...

Rat (zodiac)

The Rat () was welcomed in ancient times as a protector and bringer of material prosperity. It is an animal associated with aggression, wealth, charm, and order, yet also associated with death, war, the occult, pestilence, and atrocities. In the Chinese Zodiac, the Year of the Rat is associated with the earthly branch symbol .

So the invites and other decorations and gifts  ( to be shown later!) I have used this digi kit by Rhonna Farrer over on 2 peas

Rf_digi_2

Simple to do - I also downloaded a Chinese zodiac font from www.dafont  and we have these on their way to friends and family.

address labels and the inside

Chinese_new_year

and the finished product

Chinese_new_year2

Loving the red tulle and the little rat will be a prominent character on some of the other goodies I have planned.

Happy Mail

I mentioned earlier about the big picturebook reading club - My journal arrived today :) I ordered it through here

Book

I was mighty tempted not to go to work after picking this up from the post office and grabbing a coffee - very very tempted to just sit and read  LOL But work did call - New office is almost sorted  - or at least I have a phone  and pc again and more importantly my canvases are hung on the wall :)

and of course we started the dreaded what shall we have for dinner ongoing saga... In my attempt to be organised I have 6 meals listed on the fridge for this week  (and the ingredients!) - so I only had to go and choose the one which matched my energy levels

Super Food ideas this month one - Tuna and Black Olive Penne Pasta ..

Dinner

Yummy and so easy and fast  -  girls ate it too but I changed it around  a bit for them. Here's the shortened version if you don't get the mag.

Boil the penne pasta  add rocket a tin of tuna black olives grated parmesan cheese  lemon juice black pepper  - mix I also  added balsamic to Richards and mine and left off the black olives for the girls

It was a hit and I think a definate goodie for the lunch boxes.
